Meet Dr. Lauren
Hello!
Hi, I’m Dr. Lauren Newman, a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist specializing in all things pelvic and women's health. My focus is women navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic pain, gastrointestinal issues, and everything in between.
My Story
My journey into physical therapy started with multiple knee surgeries from soccer injuries, an experience that sparked my passion for movement, healing, and patient empowerment. I am a UT Austin alum, and obtained my doctorate degree at UT Southwestern in Dallas. Since then, I've worked with people of all kinds, helping them recover, rebuild, and get back to what they love.
But my true passion is pelvic health. Through advanced training with Herman & Wallace and working in New York City, I've built deep expertise treating complex pelvic floor conditions. I'm especially passionate about supporting women through the big, vulnerable moments: pregnancy, healing after birth, or finally getting answers after years of unresolved pelvic concerns. That's why I opened my own practice upon returning home to Austin: to give women holistic, evidence-based, highly individualized care in a space that actually feels safe, unrushed, and judgment-free. Here you are seen and heard, and your story matters as much as your symptoms.
Outside the clinic, I'm all about Pilates, running, strength training, and long walks around Austin. I'm also a travel addict (41 countries and counting), a bookworm (ask what I'm reading), a DIY crafter, and a devoted foodie who's happiest eating my way through ATX and cheering on the Longhorns with friends and family.
What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is a movement-based approach to restoring function, reducing pain, and improving quality of life through skilled evaluation and evidence-based treatment. Physical therapists are movement experts. When something feels painful, restricted, or "off," we look at the whole system, joints, muscles, nerves, movement patterns, and lifestyle, to find the root cause, not just treat the symptom.
As your physical therapist, my role is to guide you through a process of healing and rebuilding, using thoughtful movement and education to restore mobility, strength, and confidence in your body.
What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that support your internal organs, help with bladder and bowel control, sexual function, aide in stability and shock absorption, and help with circulation. Like any other muscle group, it can become weak, tight, or uncoordinated, leading to pain, leakage, pressure, and more. Common? Yes. Normal? No, and you don't have to live with it.
As a specialist, I provide one-on-one care to find and treat the root cause of your symptoms. My approach goes far beyond Kegels (many people are doing them incorrectly, or don't need them at all). Treatment may include manual therapy, neuromuscular retraining, breathwork, and personalized strategies. All of which are grounded in compassion, clinical expertise, and a trauma-informed lens. My goal: help you reconnect with your body and get back to living fully, without shame, fear, or confusion.
